You can try and control their growth by pruning and neatening clumps annually in spring or summer. 'They are evergreen, structural, rustle in the breeze and, when well maintained, can generally be an asset. ‘Bamboos bring height, fill corners and form screens,’ says garden expert Anne Swithinbank. ![]() Due to its fast-growing nature, bamboo is often chosen by homeowners as a quick way to create garden screening for patios or decks, but this benefit can also be its main problem as it can quickly get out of control, especially in a small yard.
